Album / Kek-Tash '2001

Note. Kek-Tash is the deepest known cave in Siberia and located near Kamlak village, Seminski ridge. Depth −340 m, length 2300m. Difficulty degree: 3A (Soviet system).

Kek-Tash! Since 1996 for every digger touching the bottom of that cave was an ultimate desire. Like being able to pee without taking your pants off. In 1996 our self-esteem was badly hurt: one more time mother nature kicked the shit out of us and showed who set the rules in those muddy games. After a year of preparation, we were finally ready to strike back. Looks like this time we came overly prepared: we went swiftly through the cave to the base camp grotto ("Chaos"), spent a night there and repelled down the last 10m and 60m pits. The diving trough the small siphon that leads to a recently discovered new cave system went without a problem too. Behind every successful trip like that one, lays a tremendous amount of work done by different people. We would like to mention here great organizing talent of acting Digger's Father Yu along with sponsor help from another Father (K.Stoletov). The second one didn't make it to the cave due to the fever he caught in NYC, but $300, which he donated, did. Technical support of caving clubs "Meander" and "Kaskad" helped us a lot too. At the end of the trip yet another caver was pronounced a Digger! Sam Liberman from Red Rose Caving Club behaved like he is made of steel, or may be he was just frozen like hell.
Finally, upon our return to Biysk, the third international Diggers marathon competition was held. Either there was too much Vodka in the beer or just to dark outside, but nobody was able to aim at the target, so once again it was the friendship that won!
